Alumni Spotlight

The CRCE Alumni Spotlight sheds light on the accomplished careers of the iconic figures who attended our Institute. These videos have been posted to both our Instagram account and YouTube channel. Our intention is that these tales will inspire you to continue pursuing your goals. Graduates who have made outstanding contributions to their fields of interest have been highlighted.

Alumni Student Mentoring Program

The goal of the Alumni-Student Mentoring Program is to link alumni and students. A webinar was scheduled for July 17, 2022, to help students better prepare for their Quantiphi interview. Alumni from different organizations provided one-on-one mentorship to help students prepare for placements. Students learned the value of participating in hackathons and other technical activities from a seminar given on July 27, 2022, by our alumni Mr. Vedant Sahai and Mr. Princeton Baretto. On July 29, Mr.Chinmay Kolhatkar held a seminar in which he informed us about the uses for industry 4.0. In the seminar that was held the next day, Dr. Sachin Pawaskar provided insights on exploring opportunities with the university of Ohama. On September 25, Mr. Ryan Dsilva and Mr. Abhishek Kateliya presented their experiences and gave advice to students interested in continuing their education.

The Alumni Meet

The annual "Alumni Meet" took place at Samvaad on January 7, 2023 to rekindle the connection between alums and the institute they fondly remember as ‘home’. This year's gathering drew more than 100 alumni from different parts of the world. The Silver Jubilee Celebration for the class of 1997 opened the event, which was then followed by the awarding of the Distinguished Alumni Awards. The evening was exciting and unforgettable due to a mix of nostalgia and enjoyment.

The CRCE Alumni Spotlight opens up the successful journeys of the iconic personalities who graduated from our Institute. The Alumni Spotlight is a series of videos from the Alumni of CRCE bringing to light their successful journeys after graduating from our Institute.

These videos are uploaded every month on our YouTube channel and Instagram Account. Our purpose is that these stories may encourage you to keep striving towards your dreams. We have featured Alumni who have made marvelous contributions in their field of interest. We have featured -

The Alumni Meet

The Alumni began showing up by 6:30 pm and they were received by the registration team. We had rolled out the red carpets to give them a warm welcome.

The Induction Ceremony was hosted by Ms. Mareena Fernandes, President of the Student Alumni Committee. The Alumni Meet commenced with a walk-through video displayed on the screen. In that video, we enlightened our Alumni about the various developments that have taken place in our college all these years and also presented them with a campus tour. The host then invited our Principal, Dr. Srija Unnikrishnan who proceeded in her speech, the department report highlighting the various milestones reached in the past years by the Institute. The Chairperson of the Alumni Association, Dr. Sapna Prabhu in her address expressed her gratitude for the overwhelming response from the alumni. She introduced her concise report of the Alumni Association, which revealed that several alumni have been contributing to their alma mater by instituting awards, joint projects, course sponsorships, and donations, and appealed to other alumni for their valuable contribution too. Before finishing up her discourse, she revealed the front of the 2nd edition of the 'CRCE Roots' Newsletter and felicitated our Alumni Mr. Suresh Balakrishnan (Stulz CHSPL Foundation), Production batch 1995 who awarded financial aid to meritorious and deserving students.

The time showed up for the felicitation of the 'batch of 1996.'' Mr. Kaviraj Easwaran, Operations Head of the Student Alumni Committee hosted the Silver Jubilee Celebration. This year three branches, Production Engineering, Electronics Engineering, and Computer Engineering were felicitated by the respective dignitaries with a memento. It was a very proud moment to hear about their success and achievements, also the feelings of respect towards their home 'FR. CRCE' was reflected around then.

The Distinguished Alumni Awards were hosted by Mr. Kris Corriea, a Member of the Student Alumni Committee. This year, similar to the last, the distinguished alumni awards were broken into different categories, in particular CRCE Young Achiever, CRCE Entrepreneurial Leader, CRCE Social Impact Leader, and CRCE Top Entertainer. The respective dignitaries gave over the honors to the champs.

The later part of the event was entertained by karaoke performances from our Alumni. Mr. Yohan Mhatre, Alumni Head of the Student Alumni Committee concluded the celebration with a vote of thanks. In general, the event at the college campus was a huge success in its prime motive of Connecting and Networking the alumni and the Institute.

Panel Discussion

Panel discussions were the best informative sessions arranged by the committee for the welfare of the current students. Two panel discussions were held by the committee during this year.

The first panel discussion was held on the topic “How to equip yourself for further studies”. The speakers of the discussions were none other than our alumni. Alumni like Mr. Achal Shah, Ms. Slavvy Coelho, Ms. Mariya Ali, Ms. Janhavi Powale were the speakers for the panel discussion held. It was an informative session moderated by Ms. Mareena Fernandes and it gave clarity to students about the approach for higher education and various career prospects.

The second panel discussion was held on the topic “Explore the start-up dream:Plan to Execution”. The speakers for the discussion were Mr. Parag Doshi, Mr. Girish Batra, Mr. Subhash Bishnoi, and moderated by Ms. Sayli Potdar. Many young alumni aspiring to be entrepreneurs joined the discussion as well.

The panel discussion was very useful for the students opting for further studies and also for the students who want to build their own startup. It also helped students to get a clear vision about what they want for their bright future. Both the panel discussions were held virtually and the committee received an astonishing response from the students.

Webinar

A Webinar was held by the committee on the topic “Goal-based Financial Planning and Investing”. The speaker of the event was our alumni Mr. Girish Ajgaonkar of Electronics batch 1995. The discussion revolved around some important points like strategies of saving and managing debt effectively, some of the typical mistakes that investors make, and also the basic approach that will allow investors to achieve their financial goals. Also, there was a brief discussion on the current state of the financial markets like the stock market, and the right strategies to manage the volatility in the markets.

Alumni Interactions

The alumni association is very proud that even though it was a difficult year due to the pandemic many alumni participated in many events held in college from being judges to being speakers for some very informative sessions held by various councils from the college. Many alumni also mentored various tech teams of our college. Alumni like Mr. Princeton Barretto and Mr. Akash Palghadmal participated in the binary talks conducted by Codelabs CRCE also Mr. Edwin Clement collaborated with CodeLabs for a webinar on Design Thinking, Critical thinking, and Innovative Design. Alumni Mr. Ayush Jain, Mr. Farhan Shaikh, Dr. Kiran Bhole, Mr. Manthan Dakshini collaborated with IIIExCRCE for various webinars and helped our students a lot. Many online sessions were held by CSI CRCE alumni like Mr. Gaurav Sen and Mr. Rathil Patel were the speakers for the event. Mr. Pranit Raje collaborated with Mozilla CRCE for an interactive webinar on “How to prepare for AWS Certification”. ACM CRCE also collaborated with alumni like Mr. Sojan Chandy and Mr. Gaurav Sen for online webinars. Mr. Parag Save collaborated with ASME CRCE for a webinar. Also, Mr. Swapnil Kshirsagar collaborated with Rotaract CRCE for a webinar. Many alumni like Mr. Alden Noronha and Mr. Gopesh Rajderkar collaborated with TEDxCRCE of events hosted by them. We would like to thank all the alumni mentioned above for their constant help and support for the welfare of the students as well as for the college. Also, the committee is very glad that the initiation of the International Chapter took place during this year.

Alumni Speak-up

Every year, the Association plans for various activities under which the Alumni interact with the students by sharing their knowledge and experience. Under this initiative, from last year we started the 'Alumni Speak-up Program' which has improved the student's interaction with the Alumni. This year too, we saw many Alumni contributing through this program. The Committee thanks Mr. Farhan Shaikh, Electronics - Batch 2011, Mr. Kushan Sen and Mr. Gaurav Sen, Computer Engineering - Batch 2014, Mr. Aditya Joshi, Production - Batch 2009 and Mr. Abhishek Kateliya, Computer Engineering - Batch 2018 for their enthusiastic participation in Alumni Speak-up program.

Alumni Interactions

Our Institute also involves the Alumni in various decision-making activities such as members of the Department Advisory Board (DAB), Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA). They equally participated in various technical and non-technical events.

Mr. Mohan Cheroor, Batch 1988 (Production Engineering) was the Guest of Honour for the Fr Conceicao Rodrigues Memorial Debate (CRMD) and Mr. Zubin Dalal, Batch 1997 (Computer Engineering) was the Guest of Honour during the College Cultural festival, Euphoria 2020. Ms. Suchitra Pilliai (Bollywood actress), Batch 2001 (Electronics Engineering) captivated the crowd with her motivational speech during the Salon Event organized by TEDxCRCE. Ms. Prajakta Thakur, Batch 2005 (Information Technology) and Mr. Ashwin Prabhu, Batch 2002 (Electronics Engineering) guided our students in the Hackathon competitions.

Our appreciation goes to Mr. Pavan Savant, Production batch 1994 for helping and encouraging us in Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Initiative. A heartfelt thank you to various Alumni for extending help towards technical and non-technical teams in our College.

The Alumni Meet

An annual Alumni Meet is conducted every year on the first Saturday of January which receives an enthuciastic response. This is a time for the Alumni to come back to their Alma Mater and relive the wonderful years that they spent in the Institute. From the past four years, the celebrations for the Silver Jubilee batch have been conducted at the Alumni meet.

It gives us immense pleasure to mention that Batch 1991 of production celebrating their silver jubilee this year has donated around 2 lakhs towards the purchase of Solidworks,3D CAD design software, analysis software, and product data management software.

Alumni Speak-up

The Alumni Committee launched an initiative named “Alumni Speakup” to provide a platform for inviting the Alumni to deliver talks to present students on various technical and Non-technical topics to gain industry insights from the working professionals. This effort was appreciated by the students.

The event had following speakers: Mr. Pavan Savant (Production-Batch 1994) delivered a talk on “Professional and Personal Excellence”, Mr. Aakar Kale and Mr. Rachit Vijan (IT- Batch 2017) had delivered a session on Entrepreneurship among students under Alumni Speak-up initiative.
